Expanding their horizons beyond Australian markets has made business brighter for Birtinya-based Empyrean Lighting.
CEO Kevin Day said the company had been exporting its innovative LED luminaires for the past five years to Canada and South East Asia. He said benefits from international trade had been significant.
“Working with international companies on a diverse array of projects is extremely interesting and fun,” Mr Day said.
“In the near future we are targeting Scandinavian countries, Chile, Russia, the USA and Mexico.”
He said expanding the company’s networks internationally had also allowed it to connect with innovators, inventors and experts from around the globe.
“Our export focus has been threefold as we supply international agents and distributors who represent and sell products in international markets,” he said.
“In addition we supply our product direct to select overseas end-users for niche applications and we also supply Australian companies who use our products in their own export operations overseas.”
Mr Day said a world of export opportunity awaited Sunshine Coast businesses and Council’s Export and Global Capability Programs could help put them on the right path.
“We have attended many of (Sunshine Coast) Council’s export events, including the Global Capability program, and we certainly gained an immense amount of knowledge through both Council and other businesses who are exporting from this region,” he said.
“It also inspires a great amount of confidence to hear from and network with other local businesses who have found and are finding success in international markets.
“I would strongly suggest other local businesses make contact with the council and participate in any and all events pertaining to the export program.
“The ability to learn from others’ successes and mistakes is invaluable and in many cases inspirational.”
